Projects

Where was that compressor sitting?

You open an old mix to change one small thing and realize you have no idea where the compressor was sitting, or which patch that synth line came from. Projects keeps track of it for you, session by session, right next to the song.

Sessions

Tracking, the mix and the setup each one used, right beside the song.

A project in Aureo with its tracking and mixing sessions and the gear recalled in each

How it works

  1. 1. Import

You don't start from an empty page. Aureo looks in the folders your DAWs save to, plus any you point it at, and you pick what comes in.

  2. 2. Sessions

Tracking, overdubs, the mix, or whatever you call them. Give each one a date (a year is fine if that's all you remember), a place and the setup you used.

  3. 3. Recall

Write down how each piece of gear was set: where the knobs were, the patch you loaded, a photo of the panel. Print it and keep it by the desk.

The details

DAWs
Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Studio One, Bitwig Studio, FL Studio, REAPER, Ardour, LMMS, Reason, Renoise, GarageBand, Audacity and more.
Plugins
For REAPER, Ardour and LMMS projects, plus DAWproject exports from Bitwig Studio and Studio One, Aureo reads the plugin list straight from the file and matches it to your library. The other DAWs keep their formats closed or undocumented, and the app tells you which.
Sessions
A date, a range, or just a year. A place, the setup you used, and notes.
Gear Recall
Values, presets, notes and panel photos for every piece of hardware. Duplicate a session and the settings come with it, so the next pass starts where the last one left off.
Recall sheet
Every session and the gear in it on one page, ready to keep by the desk or hand to a collaborator. Your print dialog can save it as a PDF, too.
Everything else
Credits for who played, engineered or produced. Release links, with YouTube, SoundCloud and Spotify playing right on the page. A type and tags, so you can organize however you like.
Your files
Aureo only keeps a pointer to each project. It never moves or changes them, and a rescan tells you which ones changed since you brought them in.

Yours, on your machine

Like everything else in Aureo, your projects live on your computer. No account, no upload. If you want your library on a second machine, put your vault in a folder you already sync, like iCloud Drive or Dropbox, and it goes wherever that folder goes.
