Gear

Where's the receipt for that synth?

The insurer wants serial numbers, the buyer wants the service record, and the receipt is somewhere in an inbox from 2019. Gear keeps all of it with the gear: what you paid, every repair, the serial, your photos, and the cables it takes to wire it all up.

One synth, and everything you know about it

Everything you own

Every piece of gear in one place, with its photo, maker and what the catalog knows about it.

The gear library in Aureo as a grid of cards, each with a maker and a model

History

Purchases, sales, service and repairs, each with its receipts attached.

A synth's history: a service entry with a note, and the purchase from Vintage King at $3,150

Serial numbers

Copy it for the insurer, or encrypt it with a passphrase only you know.

How it works

  1. 1. Add it

Find it in the catalog and it arrives with its photo, specs, list price and ports. If the catalog doesn't have it, add it by hand, ports and all.

  2. 2. Keep the record

What you paid and where, every service and repair with the receipt attached, the serial number, your own photos and notes.

  3. 3. Move it on

List it on Reverb with the make and model already searched for. Record the sale, archive it, and the history stays with it.

Two ways in

From the catalog with specs and photos, or by hand for the things nobody else makes.

Your own gear

The kit build, the modded pedal, the desk nobody sells anymore. Give it ports and it goes in a setup.

Cables and adapters

What it all cost

Your whole studio at what you paid or at list price, ready to print for the insurer.

What you paid

The details

Catalog
Synths, drum machines, interfaces, outboard and Eurorack, each with its photo, specs, release date, list price and I/O. A discontinued product says so, and one with a successor points you to the newer version.
Your own gear
Anything the catalog doesn't have, with a company, categories, a release date, specs and ports, so it goes in a setup like everything else. If the catalog adds it later, Aureo offers the catalog version and keeps your notes, serial, photos, tags and history.
History
Purchases and sales, service, repairs and inspections. Each entry has a vendor, a date, an amount in its own currency, notes, and up to five PDF receipts.
What you paid
Shown beside the list price. A list price in another currency also shows roughly what it comes to in yours, at European Central Bank reference rates.
Serial numbers
Kept as plain text, or encrypted on your computer with a passphrase you choose (AES-GCM, with the key derived from your passphrase by PBKDF2).
Photos and notes
Your own photos of the panel, the box and the scratch it came with, and notes for everything the manual doesn't say.
Tags and archive
Tag gear by room, rig or anything else. Archive what you've moved on from: it leaves your setups and reports, and stays linked to the projects it played on.
Projects
Each piece of gear lists the projects whose recall used it.
Cables and adapters
Counted by their two ends and their lengths, and checked against the setups you've drawn. The list of what to buy can be copied, shared or saved as a text file.
Studio value
Reports total your gear and software at what you paid, at list price, or both side by side, with an Insurance preset and a printable page.
Selling
List it on Reverb opens Reverb's sell flow with the item searched for, in the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Australia and Japan. Record the sale and Aureo offers to archive it.
Wishlist
Save the gear you're after, then print the list with a QR code for each item and its list-price total, or without prices to hand to someone else.

Yours, on your machine

Serial numbers, receipts and what you paid are exactly the things you don't want on someone else's server. They live on your computer, like everything else in Aureo. No account, no upload. If you want your library on a second machine, put your vault in a folder you already sync, like iCloud Drive or Dropbox.
