Neuron
The Hartmann Neuron is a German-made polyphonic synthesizer that uses neural network technology to analyze and re-synthesize sounds, offering a unique approach to sound design with 3D joystick control and 5.1 surround output. Produced from 2002 to 2005, it employed two "Resynators" instead of traditional oscillators, each holding a sound model that could be sculpted in real time via mushroom-shaped joysticks. Its innovative but complex interface and $5,000 price tag limited commercial success, and the instrument was discontinued when Hartmann ceased operations.
