Released as an affordable entry into digital synthesis, it combines digital waveforms into sequences to create new sounds, though it gained notoriety for its difficult programming interface and lack of a filter section.

    The Cheetah MD-16 is a budget drum machine released by UK-based Cheetah in 1991, featuring 16 velocity-responsive rubber pads and 41 editable 16-bit samples at 44kHz. With 142 programmable parameters, an expansion ROM cartridge socket, and 8-voice polyphony, it offered considerable flexibility for its price class.
