Drum Machine

  • Linn 9000

The Linn 9000 is a groundbreaking drum machine and sequencer workstation released in 1984 by Roger Linn, combining 18 velocity-sensitive pads, 8-bit sampling at 40 kHz, and a 32-track MIDI sequencer. Fewer than 1,100 units were produced before Linn Electronics closed, making it both historically significant and genuinely rare. Its integrated design directly influenced the Akai MPC60 and the broader MPC series.

  • LinnDrum

The LinnDrum (LM-2) is Linn Electronics' follow-up to the groundbreaking LM-1, featuring 15 digitally sampled acoustic drum sounds at 35kHz that helped define the sound of 1980s pop and electronic music.

  • LM-1 Drum Computer

The Linn LM-1 Drum Computer was the first commercially available drum machine to use digitally recorded samples of real acoustic drums, launching the sample-based rhythm revolution. Created by Roger Linn and released in 1980, approximately 500 units were manufactured before it was succeeded by the LinnDrum in 1982. Its distinctive sound defined the sonic landscape of early 1980s pop, new wave, and electronic music.
